Find a table on the waterfront and bask in the serenity of sunset over its picturesque harbour. Lunch, Dinner and overnight on board ship.
Sunday, March 28: Cruise—Ephesus, Patmos
A tour to nearby Ephesus should not be missed, for here history truly comes to life. Walking towards the ancient harbor, down a marble road rutted by the wheels of countless chariots, you pass architectural masterpieces like the Library of Celsus before arriving at the Great Amphitheater where St. Paul preached. Continue to Patmos. This island is known as the site of the apocalyptic revelations of St. John the Divine, written here during his exile from the Roman Empire. The cave where he lived is near the site of the Monastery of the Apocalypse. The Monastery of St. John, built on one of the island’s highest points, houses priceless icons and manuscripts in its Treasury.Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Overnight on board ship.
Monday, March 29: Cruise—Heraklion, Santorini
Cruise to Heraklion. Heraklion is just three miles away from the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 and partially reconstructed, the elaborate Palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. Continue to Santorini. The island of Santorini is
perhaps the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands. Visit the town of Thira and its white-washed houses, narrow streets, open-air cafes and glittering boutiques cling to steep cliffs, accessible by cable-car or mule. Breakfast, Lunch Dinner and Overnight on board ship.
Tuesday, March 30: Corinth, Athens
Upon Arrival in Piraeus, we disembark and drive along the coastal highway to Corinth, with a splendid view of the Aegean Sea. After a short stop at the Corinth Canal, which connects the Aegean and Ionian Seas, we arrive in Ancient Corinth. We visit the ruins of Corinth, where St. Paul worked with Aquila and Priscilla.
Included are the first century shops, the Agora, Temple of Apollo and the Bema Seat. Conditions permitting, we celebrate Mass on the very site where St. Paul preached. We return to Athens and begin our sightseeing with a visit to the legendary Acropolis. We see the chief jewel of the Acropolis - the Parthenon, the Temple of Wingless Victory, the Propylea and the Erechteum with its peerless Porch of Maidens. Beneath the Acropolis is the Areopagus or Mars Hill. This is where St. Paul made his famous "Men of Athens" speech revealing a considerable knowledge of the Greek philosophy and character. Afterwards we check in to our hotel. Farewell dinner at local restaurant. Overnight: Hotel Divani Palace Acropolis in Athens.
