This 2022 Crosswind Church Israel Tour with Pastor John Absher is an amazing opportunity to explore the land of the Bible. This is where the scriptures were written; Jesus was born, lived and completed his Earthly ministry. You’ll visit places you’ve read about in the Bible such as: Jaffa, Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, the Jordan River, Sea of Galilee, Megiddo, Bet She’an, the Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, the Temple Mount and Western Wall, along with other cultural sites like the Yad Vashem, and the Israel Museum. Experience the Bible come to life.
Depart for an overnight flight to Tel-Aviv.
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv where your Coral representative will be waiting to greet and assist you inside the terminal. Meet your guide and drive to your hotel in Tel Aviv. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Tel Aviv.
After your Israeli breakfast have a short walking tour of Jaffa. Jaffa is known in the bible as Joppa and considered the world’s oldest port. It is also where the prophet Jonah set sail for Tarshish. Jaffa is associated with the deeds of Peter. Travel via the Sharon plain to Caesarea. Caesarea was the seat of the Roman Procurator of the Judea in the time of Christ and the place St. Peter converted the Centurion Cornelius (Acts 10:24). Explore the Roman Theater and the aqueduct and view the ruins of Roman, Byzantine and Crusader times. Continue to Mt. Carmel, to the “Mukhraka” the site where Elijah challenged and defeated the 450 prophets of Baal (King 18:20). Drive via the ancient Via Maris “Way of the Sea” to Megiddo, the fortress city of King Solomon, later built upon by King Ahab. The books of Daniel and Revelation will come alive as we study about the final Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16: 14-19) while viewing the Plains of Jezreel. Drive through Nazareth, the home of Joseph and Mary and through the city of Cana of Galilee, where Jesus performed his first miracle (John 2: 1-11): turning jars of water into wine. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Tiberias.
Drive along the Hula Valley to Tel Dan and visit the remains of the city. Continue to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter made his confession of faith to Jesus. Via a ride through the Golan Heights we return to the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, the area where Jesus spent his years of ministry. See the ruins of Capernaum, the town where Jesus made his home after leaving Nazareth. View the remains of the ancient synagogue in which he may have preached and the house of Peter. Continue on to the Mt. of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. For lunch you will be able to sample the St. Peter fish (on your own). Continue to Tabgha where the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes took place. At Kibbutz Ginosar, visit the “Ancient Boat” believed to be from Jesus’ time. End the day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Tiberias.
After breakfast you will have an opportunity to be baptized at Yardenit. Then, leave the Sea of Galilee and drive to Bet She’an. Recent excavations there have disclosed the impressive ruins of the country’s largest city in the Roman and Byzantine periods, which was destroyed by an earthquake in 749 CE. Visit Ein Harod, the site of Judge Gideon (Judges 7: 1-25). Continue on to Bet Alpha to see the ancient synagogue. The tour continues through the Jordan Valley past Jericho, believed to be the world’s oldest walled city. This was the first city taken by Joshua when the Hebrews returned from Egypt – ‘and the walls fell down’. It was also the site of the Mount of Temptation (Mark 1:13). Drive to Jerusalem. Enter the city of Jerusalem in the traditional way and view the city from Mt. Scopus. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Jerusalem.
In the morning ascend the Mt. of Olives for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Old City of Jerusalem. Walk along the Palm Sunday Way and descend to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus spent the last night before he was arrested. Visit the famous Church of All Nations. Walk along the “last way” to Mt. Zion. Cross the Kidron Valley and see the Tombs of Absalom, Zachary and James. Visit the Church of Peter in Gallicantu, the site where Peter denied his Lord three times. It was also the House of the High Priest Caiaphas where Jesus was interrogated. Continue on to the Last Supper Room and King David’s Tomb. Walk to the Pool of Bethesda, and St. Anne’s Church, a fine example of Crusader architecture. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Jerusalem.
After an early breakfast, depart Jerusalem and travel along the shore of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, to Masada. Ascend Masada by cable car. Masada is the site of the most dramatic act in Jewish history. Explore the ancient excavation of Herod’s palaces, the bathhouse, the storerooms, the ramp, and the oldest synagogue in the world. Continue to Ein Gedi, the desert oasis where David hid from Saul. Visit the oasis and hike to the waterfall. Drive to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls where found. Enjoy an afternoon “float” on the Dead Sea. Return to Jerusalem passing the traditional site of the Inn of the Good Samaritan. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Jerusalem.
The day starts with a visit to Mt. Moriah. Walk through the Jewish Quarter to the Western Wall. Continue on to the Southern Wall excavation at the Davidson Center.
