DAY 2 – TUESDAY, MARCH 7
ARRIVAL / JAFFA / TEL AVIV
Upon arrival at Ben Gurion airport you will be met and assisted by a Coral Travel & Tours’ representative at the airport. Meet your guide and drive to Jaffa. Jaffa, known in the bible as Joppa, is considered to be the world’s oldest port and the place where the prophet Jonah set sail for Tarshish. Jaffa is also associated with the deeds of Peter. It was here Tabitha was resurrected by St. Peter (Acts 9: 35-43). Enjoy a walking tour in the old city of Jaffa. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Tel-Aviv.
DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8
CAESAREA / MOUNT CARMEL / MEGIDDO / SEA OF GALILEE
After our Israeli breakfast and a short drive through Tel Aviv, travel via the Sharon plain to Caesarea. Caesarea was the seat of the Roman Procurator of the Judea in the time of Christ and the place St. Peter converted the centurion Cornelius (Acts 10:24). Explore the Roman theater and the aqueduct and view the ruins of Roman, Byzantine and Crusader times. Continue to Mt. Carmel, to the “Mukhraka”, the site where Elijah challenged and defeated the 450 prophets of Baal (King 18:20). Drive via the ancient “Way of the Sea” to Megiddo, the fortress city of King Solomon, later built upon by King Ahab. The books of Daniel and Revelation will come alive as we study about the final battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16: 14-19) while viewing the Plains of Jezreel. Drive through Nazareth, the home of Joseph and Mary and through the city of Cana of Galilee, where Jesus performed his first miracle (John 2: 1-11): turning jars of water into wine. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Tiberias.
DAY 4 – THURSDAY, MARCH 9
SEA OF GALILEE
The day starts with a visit to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:1-12). Next, enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Continue to Capernaum, the town Jesus made his home after leaving Nazareth. Capernaum is the place where Jesus recruited the first of His disciples (Matthew 4:13, Luke 4:31-37, Matthew 8:14-17, Mark 2:1-12, Matthew 8:5-13, Mark 5:21-43, Matthew 11:23-24). Visit the excavation of the ancient synagogue and the house of St. Peter. This 1st century city on the shore of the Sea of Galilee was the main port city in Jesus time. Take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. Continue to the “ancient boat” from the time of Jesus at Kibbutz Ginosar. End the day at the Jordan River with an opportunity to be baptized (optional). Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Tiberias.
DAY 5 – FRIDAY, MARCH 10
After breakfast drive to Tel Hatzor. Continue to Tel Dan an important biblical city and a breathtaking nature reserve. The bible mentions the city few times:” From Dan to Beer Sheba”. Then visit the site of the ancient Caesarea PhilippI. It is here that Peter made his confession of faith in Jesus (Matthew 16:13). Enjoy a panoramic view of the Golan Heights from Mt. Bental. Return to Tiberias. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Tiberias.
DAY 6 – SATURDAY, MARCH 11
GIDEON’S SPRING / BEIT SHE’AN / DEAD SEA
Leave the Sea of Galilee and drive to Ein Harod, the site of Judge Gideon (Judges 7: 1-25). Continue to Bet She’an where recent excavations have disclosed the impressive ruins of the country’s largest city in the Roman and Byzantine periods which was destroyed by an earthquake in 749 CE. The tour continues through the Jordan Valley with a stop at Jericho, believed to be the world’s oldest walled city. This was the first city taken by Joshua when the Hebrews returned from Egypt – ‘and the walls fell down.’ It was also the site of the Mount of Temptation (Mark 1:13). Continue to your Ein Gedi Kibbutz hotel located near the Dead Sea. Enjoy an afternoon of relaxing in the spa & hot tubs with the option of spa treatments. Dinner and overnight: Kibbutz hotel near the Dead Sea.
DAY 7 – SUNDAY, MARCH 12
EIN GEDI / MASADA / TEL SHEVA / ELAH VALLEY / JERUSALEM
Depart your hotel at the Dead Sea and drive to Ein Gedi, an oasis on the Dead Sea shore. Near the 200-meter-high waterfall is a cave where David had his famous meeting with King Saul (First Samuel 24: 1-23). A walk around the reservation confirms that Ein Gedi is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the world. Continue on to Masada. Ascend Masada by cable car. Masada is the site of the most dramatic act in Jewish History. Explore the ancient excavation of Herod’s Palaces, the bathhouse, the storerooms, the Ramp, and the oldest synagogue in the world. Drive to Tel Sheva and walk where the forefathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob lived. On your way to Jerusalem, stop at the Elah Valley where David fought Goliath. Enter the city of Jerusalem in the traditional way and view the city from Mt. Scopus. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Jerusalem.
DAY 8 – MONDAY, MARCH 13
After breakfast drive to Mt Moriah (Luke 2:46-48, John, 8:1-11, Mark 13:1-2, Matthew 27:51). Walk up to the Temple place and view the Dome of the Rock and the El Aqsa Mosque. Walk through the Christian Quarter to the Jewish Quarter and visit the Davidson Center (Southern Wall excavation). Visit the Temple Institute. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Jerusalem.
DAY 9 – TUESDAY, MARCH 14
After breakfast drive to the western side of the city and visit the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book (where some of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Bar Kochba letters are exhibited) and the Holy Land Model. Continue to Yad Vashem, Israel’s National Holocaust Museum. Stop at Machne Yehuda market. In the afternoon, visit the City of David, Hezekiah’s Tunnel and the Pool of Salome. Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Jerusalem.
DAY 10 – WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15
This morning we’ll ascend the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24:3, Luke 21:37) for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Old City of Jerusalem. Walk along the Palm Sunday Way to the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46, Luke 22:39-45, Mark 14:32-42) where Jesus spent the last night before he was arrested. Drive along the “last way” to Mt. Zion. Cross the Kidron Valley and see the Tombs of Absalom, Zachary and James. Continue on to The Last Supper Room (Matthew 26: 17-25) and King David’s Tomb. Visit the house of the High Priest Caiaphas. Visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu (Matthew 26:31-35). This is the place where Apostle Peter denied the Lord three times.
